Who Am I?

I'm a writer

I'm a Roadie for a Toddler

Bert was born November 17th 2004. Here are some pictures of Bert . Bert does not take kindly to the idea that I might spend valuable parenting time updating this web site or playing guitar.

I play guitar

I've been playing since the middle Seventies. I started out on acoustic, a folkie, and moved into electric guitar--but at heart I'm a folk musician in the tradition of folk music eclectics who'll play just about anything that pleases me. Besides guitar I also mess around with other instruments. If you want to hear what I sound like there are links here to sites that will stream audio samples of my playing.

Since the late 1970's I've played off-and-on in The LYL Band with Dave Moore and occasionally other musicians. With Dave it's rough and ready music. To hear some LYL Band music see our Soundclick site.

My own recordings still feature some acoustic guitar as well as electric guitar instrumentals. You can here it at my Soundclick music page.

I'm a home recording hobbyist

I've been doing home recording for longer than I've been playing. I started out with cassettes and moved up to a cassette "Portastudio" and finally to hard drive recording using Digidesign's ProTools Digi001 and Adobe Audition.

G.A.S.

Like many home recording hobbyists and guitar players I suffer from "Gear Acquisition Syndrome". Some G.A.S. sufferers must always have the latest and greatest, but my addiction is usually sated with something in the "value priced" area. In my poorest days I enjoyed going through second-hand stores, flea markets and yard sales for guitars and equipment. Now days I have less time for this, but still enjoy finding something different at a good price. Obviously I can't cure G.A.S. but I might be able to guide you how you can acquire even more stuff for your dollar. Check out the "So You Want to Buy A Guitar" Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section.

I'm a music fan

I listen to more kinds of music than I play. "Without music to decorate it, time is just a bunch of boring production deadlines or dates by which bills must be paid." - Frank Zappa
