Detailed Description:
The Calhoun-Isles Community Band and the Northeast Community Band join forces
to present "150 Years of Community Bands, a Sesquicentennial Concert" on
Sunday, May 11, 2008. The concert begins at 2:00 p.m. Prior to the concert,
from 1:00-1:45 p.m., an "Instrumental Petting Zoo" will be held in the Ritz
Theater lobby, where families can see and hear various band instruments up
close. Because it's Mother's Day, free flowers will be given to the first 100
mothers who attend the concert. This is an official Minnesota Sesquicentennial
event, held on the 150th anniversary of Minnesota's statehood.
