This image is of a LEGO Technic axle that I threaded with a 10-32 die just to see how well it would work. This little experiment came about while following a thread on rec.toys.lego relating to axles in tension. The white nuts are regular nylon 10-32 nuts turned down on a lathe to be compatible with the size of other LEGO elements. The upper threaded axle is the actual unmodified Lego Technic version with 2mm pitch double lead threads. These are difficult to get in any quantity so the thought was to make something functionally equivalent.
