January 1997. This is just a section of 1 mm plastic optical fiber with a plastic LEGO fiber end re-attached. The end of a LEGO optical fiber was cut off and drilled on a small lathe so a 1mm plasic fiber could be glued inside it with cyano-acrylate type adhesive. The other end is slightly melted into a lens shape and has heat shrink tubing applied so that it fits neatly into the LEGO fiber-optic light source.
