Even thought this story takes place in Alaska, the bear that is featured in this book  lives right here in Minnesota! A Bear Named Trouble is based on a true incident, and if you go to the zoo in Duluth, you can visit one of the main characters.
Trouble’s life began in Anchorage Alaska. When his mother turns him out to live on his own, he becomes a nuisance bear, because he is attracted to humans.
Jonathan loves animals and he loves and is attuned to everything at the Anchorage Zoo, where his father works. One day he encounters the bear named Trouble and follows him when he wanders into the zoo. A beloved zoo animal is killed, but Jonathan realizes that the bear was only being a bear, and so he does his best to save Trouble from being killed as well. This is a great read for those who love human and animal interaction stories.
