How do I get in?

After you click on the link at the bottom of this page, you will be asked to enter a 'User ID' and a 'Password'.

What is the 'User ID'?

eab (no capitals)

What is the 'Password'?

The password is a five-letter word that is the nickname of the EAB sports teams. Enter this plural word in lower case letters (no capitals).

Help! I can't get it to work!

Send an email to Alessandra (chiareli@visi.com) and she will be happy to tell you the password and answer any questions.

Do I have to do this every time?

No. The first time you are asked for the User ID and Password, look for and click the checkbox that says something like 'Remember password'. From then on, your computer will enter the password for you.

Why use a password?

There are two reasons.

  1. To protect the database from legitimate search engines (like yahoo.com).  Several alumni have mentioned that they did not like that fact that anyone could use such a search service to easily find their database file and consequently their address and other information.
  2. To protect the database from email harvesting programs that follow links all over the web looking, for email addresses in web pages, and then sell them to people who use them for email 'spamming' (unwanted advertisements).

Why is the password so easy to guess?

The goal of the database is to help EAB alumni find each other.  We don't want to decide who should be given access to the database and who should not.
