Windows 3.1

All of these programs were developed using Borland C/C++ 3.1. I have Borland C/C++ 4.0 but the executable sizes it generated were much bigger than 3.1 so all of these binaries are compiled using 3.1. Having a very low resource and memory footprint was my goal for all of these applications. MemGraph is probably one of the smallest memory resource graphs available for Windows.

Arrangement was one of my favorites for Windows 3.1, but I can't recall getting any e-mail on it, ever! UpDown was my first Windows application, and has been pretty popular, although its very hard to describe to someone what it does without showing them first. MemGraph has been by far the most popular.

A couple of these applications have been highlighted in major computer magazines:

UpDown was highlighted way back in the April of 1991 issue of PC Magazine.
MemGraph was on the Superior Shareware list for Windows Magazine in July of 1994.

Windows 3.1 Programs
Title Filename Size Description
MemGraph v3.0
memgr30.zip 10,013 A bar graph of your Windows memory and resource usage. The graphs are broken down into colors zones: The first half is green, next third is yellow and the final zone is red. A swap disk threshold line is drawn for systems configure with one.
UpDown v1.6a
updown16.zip 12,051 Do you usually have the "Minimize on Use" flag set? While it's nice to have the Program Manager automatically minimized while you run other applications, it's a pain to manually restore the Program Manager once you're completed with those applications. UpDown does this job for you; it automatically restores the Program Manager once all other applications are closed or minimized.
Arrangement v1.4
arrang14.zip 17,571 Do you find yourself always opening and moving your windows into a convient configuration? Are you frustrated with the complexity/limitations of the current crop of "desktop arrangers"? Then Arrangement is the program for you. Arrangement will easily save and restore any arrangement of window applications.

Development news -- April 1996

I haven't updated any of these utilities in the last year or so. Actually, I haven't had any complaints about them either. I don't run Windows 3.1 very often these days so I've not been using these apps as much as I used to.

DOS

Back in my early days of the
TRS-80, I wrote a Risk-like game in the "huge" 16K memory using Mr. Gate's BASIC. Shortly after college, I rewrote the game in C on a UNIX box. I finally ported it to the PC about a year later. For a while I offered it as Shareware (and the .ZIP file still says this) but now I consider it freeware.

DOS Programs
Title Filename Size Description
World Conquest v2.60

risk260.zip 50,734 World Conquest is a FREEWARE game inspired by the popular Parker Brothers, Inc. board game RISK. A person or a set of people can play against each other and/or a set of computer controlled opponents in a challenge to control the world. Each computer opponent has its own distinct personality: some players are conservative and some are positively agressive! Every game is different. Sometimes you win easily and other times the computer opponents crush you!

Note: You must have the ANSI.SYS driver loaded to run this game, otherwise you'll get a lot of funny characters.

Development news -- April 1996

It's been five or six years since I've touched this code. No future plans.
