Safehouse: Common Area
A used couch and a pair of recliners are grouped around a coffee table in the living room, with a foursome of wooden chairs claiming the bump out for quieter conversation. The dining room boasts a white laminate table with four aluminum and vinyl-upholstered chairs - too new to be 'vintage', too old to be trendy. The appliances and cupboards in the kitchen are new - or at least refurbished to look like it - and a door leads out to the backyard from there.
Up the stairs are a number of empty rooms where anyone affiliated with the Sept can crash and an office for private meetings. The Glass Walkers have their own area accessible via a locked door off the foyer. The main doors themselves lead back out to the front porch of the house.
Obvious exits:
Natalie pulls open the door to let her packmate in, scowling. "You don't have to knock, you know," she tells the Ahroun sourly. "You live here." At least during the big moons. "I'm gonna have to set up the doorbell so it rings in the other side. You're lucky someone heard you knocking."
Emma steps inside and nods, "I know. Just, feel better about knocking." Her shoulder lifts up in a shrug, "I am playing Galliard today I guess, got a handful of news to pass on to you. Got a minute?"
Natalie flicks a hand as she closes the door behind the girl, a gesture designed to - if not effective at - soothe tense emotions. "I've always got time for news. Always have time for my pack too. Whatcha got for me?"
Emma rubs a hand over her head as she settles into the room. "The tainted farm just off the bawn. Well, it's gotten big. Everything is tainted and it's being ... run by a Fomori-bull-thing. Brom is running it, but he's invited all of Havoc to come get their claws dirty. Here is your official invitation. Signe won't go, Gunnar may if it works around his hospital work. KL and I are definitely going."
Natalie paces after her more slowly, stopping at the end of the half-wall to study her packmate's face. "Tainted farm? ...I remember you talking about Tainted shelter animals. Is this the same thing?"
Emma nods. "They've been doing a lot of work. A bunch of shelters got wiped out in a few weeks, and they are all at this farmhouse. It's got a greenhouse, and everything. The farmer had been tainting the animals, until the bull upped and killed him. Now they all worship the bull. Brom's had some scouts going and they said it's big enough that it affects the umbral side of things. So we can't wait too long. You interested? I just need to give Brom the numbers so he knows what to work with. They are going in with ranged first, heh," here she laughs, "He don't want to get killed by a fucking bull as he puts it."
"If pulling all Havoc off territory isn't going to do anything, yeah," Nat agrees, shrugging. "Any idea of when? Moon's getting smaller, so if he wants to run anything flipside it'll have to either be soon or in a couple of weeks from now. --Plus," she adds, straightening with another internally-directed frown, "I thought things took a hell of a long time to go Umbral. I can't see something exploding that big in just a couple of weeks."
Emma nods, "Well I am no Galliard, for all I know I heard one thing and said another. Only thing I know is that it can't be left to sit and grow. And he plans on doing it as soon as he can get everyone together. Fat moon." She nods, "Ok, that's part one. Next," she grins a little, "I am so glad I am just supposed to hit things, alright, anyway- KL, you cool with her, Sig is, Gunnar is, obviously I am. Sig wants her to have a meeting with Vex, so filling ya in on that."
Natalie's standing at the edge of the half-wall, talking with Emma who's seated herself in the living room. "Just let me know," she says again. "No promises, since I've got cubs in addition to Havoc, but I want to try and be there." The woman's chin goes up, eyes narrowing. "--Yeah? When does she want to meet Vex? I'd like to be there for -that-, since I missed Gunnar's introduction."
There is an evident tension in her at the mention of cubs, but the Ahroun makes good effort to just keep trucking ahead. "Not sure. Just giving you a heads up so you can be ready for it in the future. Lastly would be Signe's news. And, from experience, I can tell ya to tread lightly on this one. Penelope is a new Fury in town. Sig would like for us to not be too hard on her, for now- because apparently, they are half sisters. Which, apparently, is no sort of good news for Signe." With that Emma nods her head, "All caught up."
Natalie says, "Whoa whoa whoa," pulling out of any semblance of ease to stare at the girl. "What the hell? Say that again, and make sense this time."
"The last bit? I guess, that this Fury, born of a Fury, with Fury bloodlines, shares the same father as Signe. Who, for the matter seems convinced that her dad was somehow tricked into it. But, the end result is the same. They are half sisters, one Fury, one Get. She's a Ragabash as well, and Fostern." Emma grunts at this, "Yay."
The door opens from the Walkers' side and Kevin steps through it, looking both tightly wound and gloomy. "Natalie?" he asks as he spots his elder by the half-wall first. "Is Emma coming for the lesson today, or is that canceled too what with everything going so mad these last few days...?" The question's scarcely off his lips when he crosses over the room and in so doing, sees Emma herself. "Ah... Emma," he adds, with a brief and rather abrupt nod of respect.
Natalie takes a second - longer than a second - try and absorb this, which means that Kevin's entrance goes unnoticed while she boggles at the Get. "--Ooookay. Yeah, I can see how... damn. Signe's gotta be climbing the walls. So, um... Fostern Ragabash? And Fury? Sure, I'll lay off her. Not that I wouldn't have, since she's Fostern and all, but yeah."
Emma looks up as Kevin enters, her eyes landing oddly on the cub. Her first response is back to the Galliard, "Yah. Signe isn't sure how she feels about it all yet. Or even if this Fury is just passing through or sticking around." A moment passes as she tightens her voice, "And I suppose that'd be up to your elder Kevin."
Kevin bites his lip. "I'm interrupting. Sorry. Didn't know you guys were both here. Shall I make myself scarce?" he asks, half-turning to return to the Walker side.
Natalie is, finally, alerted to the cub's existence; she turns to the foyer, distracted, and beckons the boy closer. "You're not interrupting." A quick look exchanged between the others and her eyes settle on Emma. "--Isn't this your usual lesson day?"
Emma straightens up a bit, hiding her emotions behind a more rigid posture. "Yes it is, but things change. I didn't want to assume anything." She focuses her gaze somewhere between Natalie's chest and the wall beside her.
Kevin stands on first one leg, then the other, giving every impression of a boy with energy to burn who can't wait to be burning some of it, but who's just too unsure of himself to ask outright if he can strike a match.
Too bad for Emma, or she could see Nat's nostrils flare. "What the hell's changed?" she demands, figuratively if not literally blocking the exit out. "You still live here during the big moons, Kevin still needs teaching."
Emma clenches one hand into a fist. "Nothing Natalie, if you don't need anything of him today, then I'll take him." The fingers relax as she glances to the cub. "He does still need teaching."
Kevin gives a slightly goofy smile to Emma, but says nothing.
Natalie finally yanks her eyes from the Ahroun, only to have them land on the boy instead. Without a word she jerks her head at Emma, sending him that way, then retreats back into the foyer. "Supper's at six, as usual." Her voice is bland, forcibly so. "You two plan on being late?"
Emma nods, "Probably, unless he can't keep up and needs to go home early." This is said with a glance to Kevin, one that doesn't hide any humor or amusement. It appears the Get is dead serious about this possibility.
Kevin frowns for a moment, then decides to treat Emma's statement as a joke and gives a slightly forced laugh. "Try me?"
Natalie reaches up to lightly punch Kevin's arm as she passes, but doesn't stop until she's at the entrance to the Walker house. "Be good, you two. Thanks for the news, Emma. I'll see you both later."
Emma gives a nod, the gesture between Galliard and cub does not go unnoticed and her lips pinch together. "I'll tell Brom you're in if scheduling works."
