Harbor Park -- Fountain

Situated in the center of a large, open meadow is a clustering of six trees, a flower bed, a few steel-and-wood benches set firmly into concrete, and a flagstone courtyard that is dominated by a large fountain.

The fountain is a wide circular pool of water some fifty feet across and about five feet deep in most places. The sculpture in the center is a mix of old and new, traditional and modern: eight concrete-and-stainless-steel slabs about six feet high are set in a rough Stonehenge-like circle around the center of the fountain. Water flows from their tops, cascading in bright mesmerizing sheets to the pool below. Rising above the steel circle is a large marble statue of the Water Bearer, an androgynous figure draped in robes of flowing water. It bears a large jug carved with various Greek symbols, from which pours a seething torrent of water into the pool at its feet.

Cars on the nearby street have an excellent view of the park as do any residents of the tall buildings which line the waterfront.

The murky waters of the Columbia River flow swiftly along the east side of the park. Bracketing the park to the west is First Street and the city of St. Claire. Recent construction work is creating an earthen berm several feet high all along the borders of the park in all directions.

ManHole Harbor Park Meadow

Its a quiet morning in St. Claire's, the sun just now peeking through the clouds, but not enough to really warm the ground below. Dew is sprinkled about the grass like small, tiny mirrors, creating a glistening, wet glow. Within the park resides Ashley, doing push ups as her hands grip the edge of a bench, grunting under her breath as her body bobs up and down. Her cheeks look red, hair pulled back into a tight pony tail, revealing her sweaty brow. She is dressed simple in a pair of shorts and a baggy sweater, something to use for working out.

The monotonous pad pad pad of footsteps herald Nat's arrival. She jogs across the meadow before angling toward the fountain, a light sheen of sweat on her face. Her concentration is such that it looks like she'll circle the fountain completely and head off in another direction.

Pushing off the bench, Artemis stands at her full height and shakes out her arms, glancing over towards Natalie as she runs past her. "Good morning to you too!" She calls out with a smirk on her face, giving one fo her shoulders a rub, cracking a few annoyed joinnts.

Natalie runs 'up' for a step as she turns, surprised, still jogging in place. "Hell! Didn't expect to see you here. Morning. You come by this place a lot, or making a special trip?"

"Just coming back from Sean's and decided to stretch my legs. I figured if I will be spending more time out here with the pack, I may as well start to stomach it." Artemis says, heading towards you. "Need a running partner?"

This young woman appears to be in about her early twenties. Her frame is a bit on the taller side, nearing the height of five foot nine. She is built quite athletically, her upper arms muscled and well developed. She isn't dominating by any means, and one would take a guess that she is swimmer in training, or, perhaps into acrobatics. She could be described as wiry at best. Her legs are long and fit the rest of her frame well, making her appear quick and capable of delivering a solid kick.

Her hair is cut short, revealing a honey kissed blonde colour with a hint of auburn woven through out. A pair of blueish green eyes appear out from behind a few whisps of her dangling bangs that oversee her face. She has an attractive look about her, but her brash mannerisms tend to turn away the greedy eye that lingers too long.

She tends to dress quite boring in a pair of beat up blue jeans and a oversized baggy sweatshirt. Over her feet is a pair of sturdy looking black boots which appear to be steel toed. Most of the time she wears a black hooded sweat shirt with pockets in the front, something to keep her warm during the colder times.

"If you want." Nat's eyes study her new packmate from tip to toe and back, her voice steady despite her continued effort. "I was about to head back home. You want to come with? It's a couple of miles."

"Thats all?" Artemis says with a slight grin on her face. "Was hoping for more of a run. Sure, I'm game." She offers, rolling her shoulders a bit, then cracks her neck slightly. "Lead the way. I haven't been to your place yet."

Natalie says, "You can run to Kent's Crossing and back, for all of me," a hint of an edge slipping into her voice. "I've already gotten in my run today."

A feral grin spreads along the Fury's face. "The run never stops, until our legs fall off." She says. "You going to lead or not?"

Natalie snarls at the other woman with a quick flash of teeth. "Perhaps it'd be better if we stayed here."

Ashley stops smiling and stares at the other woman, then hitches up her shoulder. Her arms slowly cross over her chest, nostrils flaring slightly.

Natalie continues to jog, her own eyes narrowing at the Fury. Her voice, when she speaks again, is pleasant enough to be mistaken for friendly - at least, if you couldn't see either of their faces. "I don't believe this is the time or place for this. Do you?"

"Not the place for what? A fucking run? Thats what you offered, isn't it? I was cool with it, now you want to fucking just sit here instead. Which means, you got an issue with me or something." Artemis says, firing back at her. "I don't need to have a stare down or a stupid challenge with you, to prove anything, got it? I actually thought for a moment that maybe you wanted to get to know me. So, fuck it. I'm not up to having a pissing contest."

"No," Nat snaps back, "You're just up to making snide comments, as usual. Why Signe thinks you might be able to be her second is beyond me."

Ashley rolls her eyes at you. "I got half a mind to put my foot up your ass. I was trying to joke around with you about the running thing. You are so fucking dense, Natalie. My entire time here, all I get told is that I'm a big fucking bitch, why? Because of who I am. Now I try and lighten up, share a few jokes with people I'm supposed to pack with, and I get a roll of the eyes and a buncha bullshit tossed back at me. You know what? Fuck you. I'm just going to be my fucking bitchy self, and if you don't like it, you can just kiss my fucking ass. I'm sick of trying to be 'nice' with you fucking morons."

"Bring it," the Galliard snaps, settling into a wide-legged defensive stance. "You know why no one expects you to be nice? Because yeah, you're an arrogant bitch. That's the nicest thing I've ever heard about you. You don't want to be an arrogant bitch? Then guess what, you have to change. But don't expect a couple of lame jokes that aren't even funny to make everything all peaches and cream. Especially when you get your panties in a wad when someone takes 'em the wrong way."

"You don't want me to bring it, you stupid cunt." Snaps Artemis as she growls in fury at the Glass Walker. "I'll turn your insides out and then hang you from the nearest tree by your fucking intestines. I'm not arrogant, I'm confident. I don't brag about my abilities. I don't throw them in other people's faces. I just stand up to what I fucking believe in." Snorting in your direction, she turns and starts off. "You want to pick a fight with me, bring your bullshit to the barn later and we'll handle it there. Otherwise, remember who your friends with, and don't try and get 'your' panties in a bunch, when someone is trying their best to get to know you."

Natalie smiles thinly. "No wonder your mouth's so big. You gotta get it around your fat thigh. Yeah, maybe I will see you at the barn later." And with that she turns her back on the Theurge and heads off at an unruffled jog.
