Farmhouse: Hallway and Living Room

All doorways in the front part of the house lead to the front hallway, a J-shaped area with the short tail starting at the stairs, the front door hitting the bottom curve, the doorless opening to the living room halfway up the long side, and the also doorless opening to the kitchen and dining room at the very top. The hall has a simple wooden floor, and decorated with a generic print of soft-colored flowers hanging on the wall to the right of the front door, and a tall table sitting under the print which serves as a place to toss keys. A closet under the stairs serves as a place to hang coats or to toss shoes.

The doorless opening to the living room is halfway up the side of the hall's J, and the word cozy might spring to mind when looking into is, as it seems to radiate comforting vibrations. A long couch sits against the south wall beneath a large bay window curtained only by sheers that manages to obscure the view in but only filters the day's light. A variety of out-of-date magazines are strewn atop a low coffee table; more neatly presented are the plethora of books filling the small bookshelves which line the eastern wall. Three chairs sit about the room, focused inward, to allow group conversations. Large floor pillows are stacked in one corner of the room, except one, which lies carelessly in the middle of the floor, apparently left out the last time it was used.

An opening in the northern end of the hallway allows access to the kitchen and dining room at the back of the house, while carpeted stairs twist up at the other end of the hall, leading to the second floor. A door at the base of the J lets out to the front porch.

Kitchen/Dining Room Front Door STairs

Signe nods, looking curious but knowing well not to ask after such secrets. "A favor," she finally answers. the Get comes to sit in a chair across from the couch, facing Trevor. "I'm putting a pack together. And we'll need to quest for a spirit for that pack."

"I see." Trevor nods. "I'm glad to hear that, it is always nice to see new packs forming. You wish me to perform the Totem Rite for you?"

The sound of an engine in the lane is replaced by footsteps. A few minutes later Nat clomps up onto the porch and pulls open the front door.

Signe offers the Fianna a small grin. "Well, I was hoping, yeah. Or at least help me find someone who could, if you can't." she's sitting across from Trevor, who's on the couch--having just woken up from a nap, clearly. Natalie's just come in from the front door.

"It is always an honour to be asked to play a part in the creation of a new pack." Trevor replies, returning the grin. "Who is involved, and what is to be the purpose of the pack?" Besides looking like he's just woken up, he also looks like shit generally. Worn out and under stress.

Signe glances over as the door opens, grinning a little when she sees the Walker. "Her for one," she answers, going on to list the others, "Emma, and the two Furies Ashley and Doc. Might be at least one more, but I can't be certain yet, so we'll leave it at that."

Natalie stops at the doorway, leaning against it with her arms folded over her chest. "I didn't mean you had to leave the city," she tells the Get with mild humor, lifting her chin in greeting to Trevor. "Afternoon. Talking Pack?"

Smiling rather more at one or two of the names, Trevor looks over and nods a greeting to the new Walker elder. "Natalie-Rhya. And indeed we are. There are many things that must be taken into account to maximise the success of the Rite. The purpose of the pack-to-be being one of the most important. What will it do?"

Signe gestures for Natalie to come in and have a seat while they talk. "Filling Trevor in so he can run a Rite for us." the Fianna's question makes the Get a tad more serious. "I don't know if you've noticed, but the city's even worse than it was when I left. Not that I'm surprised by that, seeing as most of the packs that held territory there, back then, are all gone. And few have replaced them. The pack's purpose, as far as I'm concerned, is going to be to clean it up. Stem the tide, at least as much as one small pack can. It'll be a war pack. And we're looking for a war totem."

Natalie pushes off the door frame to come into the room, finding a chair near Signe. She doesn't add anything, just settles in to watch and listen.

"I see. A war pack." Trevor smiles, his eyes suddenly gleaming. Clearly he's having ideas. "And yes, I had noticed the way the city is going. Is there one war totem you wish to especially seek, or will I be calling them all?"

Signe again glances at Natalie before answering the Ritemaster's question. "I haven't spoken with everyone yet, and gotten suggestions or opinions. But. I have one or two that I would like you to consider. The first would be Wolverine." The Get leaves 'why' unsaid, since it seems to be written in the gleam of her eyes. "The other is one you may or may not be familiar with. I have heard of it, but never seen it, or even talked to anyone who has. It would be trickier. An aspect of Dragon called the Firedrake."

Nat's eyebrows shoot up - not at Wolverine, but Firedrake. "...Firedrake?" she echoes.

"Hmm, I see." Trevor nods thoughtfully. "It is easiest to make a specific Rite when the whole pack can agree on which they seek. So, if you do arrive at a consensus, please let me know." Then he sighs. "Firedrake... I know nothing of. Perhaps you can tell me what you know?"

Signe nods to the Walker, first, then answers, "I know that those of my tribe who spend a lot of time hunting leeches seek him out. He's spirit of all consuming fire. Revels in the utter destruction."

The stairs creak as Emma walks down them, looking more emotionally tired than physically. When she spies everyone else who is there, she lifts a hand and gives a faint, "Heya."

"I thought we wanted to protect the City," Natalie quips, "Not burn it down. Still. He sounds like he'd make a helluva impression."

"I see." Trevor seems impressed. "If your pack wishes to seek him out, I must know ahead of time. A Rite to catch his attention will have to be very specific." When Emma shows up, he smiles at her. "Hey Emma. You look like I feel." Isn't he aware he looks that way too, only worse? Or is he just trying to pretend otherwise.

Signe lifts her chin, gesturing for Emma to join them. Natalie's comment is met with a slightly feral grin. "Hopefully we can raze our enemies without taking out the whole city. If we do our jobs, it should work. And we do have leeches to worry about." She nods to Trevor, then seems to put two and two together, asking, "How's Taslyn?"

Emma answers the question, as she just came from there. "Sleeping. For now. She remembers bits, like, like she's in there somewhere, but hits a brick wall." She gives a smile and nudges into Trevor, "What you guys talking about?"

Natalie says, "Pack. C'mon and sit. Signe was just mentioning a couple of possible totems - Wolverine and one called Firedrake."

Gesturing to Emma, since she answered Signe's question, Trevor sighs. Clearly that being talked about hasn't improved his mood any. "I reached her too late. I failed my daughter, and she is lost to me now." Emma's nudge goes unnoticed, or at least unresponded too.

Signe blinks, taken aback by what the Fianna said. "Daughter?" she asks, uncertain if the Fianna means what she assumed he meant.

Natalie's question is different. "Taslyn?"

Emma doesn't want to answer the question, and so just looks between Signe and Trevor.

"Taslyn is my daughter in all ways but the biological." Trevor explains to Signe and Natalie. "I was there at her Firsting, her birth as Garou. I watched over her as she took her first steps in her new life. She considers me her father, and I consider her my daughter. The relationship we share is such, and we interact as such." Then he looks away, staring out of the window. "I have incured Gaia's wrath, and she punishes me. Olga told me, before Emma's Rite, that I have been losing it since Luke-Rhya died." That's not what the Gnawer said, or meant, and she explained as much. But it's what Trevor heard and remembers, the voice of his fears and guilts.

Emma reaches out to gently squeeze Trevor's arm. "Hey, she's not lost to you Trevor, and you have to stop thinking that way, because she'll pick up on it. She needs encouragement, and she needs that support you've always given her - more than ever, she needs it now. It'll be alright."

"...I don't believe Gaia punishes us by screwing over other people," the Walker says, "She's pretty damn good at having us screw ourselves over. So don't blame yourself for whatever it was happened to her."

Signe may not be the best at being traditional all the time, but there are some things the Get does hold to. And far be it for a Get to interfere, really, in such a deeply personally Fianna family matter. So, the Fianna's outpouring makes the Get a little uncomfortable. She shifts in her seat, letting the other's words comfort the Ritemaster.

"I wish I believed that, Emma. I really do." Trevor shakes his head, before looking over to Natalie. "It is still my fault. I should have done more, found her faster. I failed her." Then all of a sudden, he seems to change. Everything visibly drains from his face, as though being pushed down, to be replaced by absolute stone. "I apologise for letting... personal matters interfere with business. That was weak and wrong of me. So, to the Rite. Let's recap what we have so far. The pack is to reclaim the city. It will seek a totem of war. So far, possible options include Wolverine and Firedrake, the latter of whom will require a unique Rite. It is worth noting that, should the pack decide to seek any particular totem, a unique Rite never hurts. But in the case of Firedrake, it is a must I feel."

Emma's face tightens at Trevors words, and she looks a little angry and disappointed. She drops it though, and looks to Signe and Natalie as the discussion turns towards pack stuff. "What about Badger?"

Signe looks around to the two who she hopes to pack with, settling on Emma when she speaks. "Badger? I hadn't thought about that. It's a possibility."

"Doesn't sound as... immediately frothy as the others," says Nat, apparently willing to drop the subject of Taslyn. "Could be a possibility."

If Trevor notices Emma's reaction, which likely he does, he shows no acknowledgement. "So, add Badger to the list? I already have in mind the beginnings of a suitable ceremony for a Totem of War. I shall warn you that it will call for all of us to shed our blood. But I am sure that is not an issue. Of course, if you seek Firedrake, it will need to be modified."

Natalie says, "I'm sure Jeremy - Walker Kin - has some explosives he's be willing to... contribute." She casts a look sidelong at Signe and Emma. "Going with the theory of the bigger boom the better."

Signe grins at Trevor. "All Get Rites call for blood," she says, and it doesn't appear to be a joke. Natalie gets a little, amused smirk before she looks back to the Fianna. "How soon could you be ready after we let you know exactly who we've decided to try for?"

Emma stretches out a bit and lets a slight yawn hit her lips. "What about Karl? I know he wants to pack up with me, and I think he'd come along, but he's too damn concerned about it making a difference with the Russians thing."

"And all Fianna Rites call for beer." Trevor replies to Signe, his meaning unclear. That would definitely be a joke, if it wasn't for the fact his face hasn't changed. But it's certainly not true. "I'm not sure I wish to explain to our Groundskeeper than I have blown up part of the Bawn, but I will bear that in mind." he assures Natalie, before replying to Signe again. "It very much depends on your answer to the who part. But I assure you, it will be as soon as possible without risking damaging the effectiveness of the Rite." Emma's comment elicts no response. That part has nothing to do with him.

Mentioning the Russians immediately earns Emma the Walker's undivided attention. "What's that? He wants to deal with the Russians - hell, if he knows anything about the Russians, he's to come to me. I don't want little bits of information scattered all over hell and back because everyone thinks they can do it themselves, or they don't know who to tell. Word is things are going to get very exciting, very soon with those bastards, and I'm looking for all the help I can get."

Signe, after Emma's comment, turns to eye the Walker Elder. "Speaking of, sorry about taking off earlier, but you looked like you'd be busy for a while. Is that situation gonna be a problem we, your pack can help with? Or do you want us to stay out of it?" She goes on, after Natalie's comment, to explain, "The theurge Gaian has decided not to pakc with us lest he bring the wrath of the Russians down on our heads. I'm not sure he realizes the Walker elder's already in the pack."

Emma shakes her head at Natalie. "The Gaians got their panties all bunched up now that they've been targetted. Karl thinks that, for some reason, packing up now would be bad for me because it'd draw attention to me. But all of them trouncing happily to the farm and the bawn, is okay?" She grunts, obviously annoyed by it.

When the topic turns to the Russians, and Emma mentions the farm, Trevor turns to Natalie. "I have, as you know, to consider the defence of the Farm. I must think of the cubs. I have considered what I have heard about the Russians, their tactics and capabilities. I wonder, Natalie-Rhya, if you could do me a favour? Could you help me get a good, deadly, gun and the training to use it?"

"Jeez Louise, people, one at a time!" Nat points first to Trevor. "You want to talk to either Jeremy or Rina, both Kin. I know which end of a gun to hold, and that's about it. If they ask, tell 'em I said it was good." Now the finger levels at Signe. "...Let him know. Better yet, I'll tell Karl if I see him - or pass the word along with Dakota. But we'll need a Theurge. Which reminds me - we might want to consider Tony, depending. He's got little enough up-and-at-em, but he takes orders just fine. As for the other - maybe. Megan wants a pack to deal with the Russians, but she didn't say who it had to be. I was going to have Leala deal with them for her challenge to me, but the Alpha put the kibosh on that. We've got some notes of what to do, and what we're facing, but nothing solid yet."

Signe listens, her frown deepening. "We have a theurge," she says, dealing with that first. "Though I wouldn't mind a second, as long as he could heal. I'm more apt to choose the ragabash. We'll need a scout. But as for dealing with the Russians, since they infest the city I don't mind putting it on my list. But I don't know jack shit about it. So, it would depend on learning. But that's something Id rather talk to you about one on one."

Emma runs through a list of names, "Wait, who's the Theurge you got Signe?"

"Thanks, I'll do that Natalie-Rhya." Trevor replies. Then he shuts up, so the pack-to-be can discuss things.

Signe answers Emma, her voice quiet since she doesn't expect the other Get to like what she has to say very much. "Ashley, the Fury."

Emma groans and rolls her eyes, "For sure?" She pounds a fist lightly against the bannister she stands near and sighs.

"...I don't know, Signe," Natalie says quietly, pulling herself back into her chair.

Signe leans back a little, expression stoic. "Yeah, for sure. Unless it's going to be too big of a problem for you and her?"

Emma grumbles, "Who's gonna be what Signe? That will determine a lot. I don't mind following, you know I'll follow you. But Ashley is different."

"I wish to go and spend some time with Taslyn." Trevor says, standing. "Let me know what you decide." Then he's gone up the stairs, and into her room. Those who listen may hear him singing a soothing lullabye before he shuts the door and all is quiet.

Signe then looks at Natalie. Argument coming from both sides, the Get frowns further. She nods to Trevor, offering him a grateful nod. Then she settles in to talk to her would-be-packmates. "I'm not asking you to follow Ashley. I'll be alpha. you want to know who beta will be?"

Natalie chimes in, "Ashley's hella different, yeah." Then she shuts her mouth at Signe's question, glancing at Emma before turning her full attention to the older Get.

Emma gives a faint nod. "We need to get a Gnawer or, Gaian.." she sighs, looking down. "I end up omega, Ashley will be all over me, and you know as well as I do, I won't stand for that very long." She looks upstairs and then to the kitchen, "Am gonna go get some food. Let me know when ya got it figured out Signe, I want in. I just don't want to be miserable while I'm there."

"No, she won't," Signe says, her tone both insistent and harsh. "Because I won't let her be. Listen, both of you. Whatever else she is, she's an experienced theurge, who also knows how to bleed and make other things bleed even worse. As far as I'm concerned she fits for that reason. Now, I won't let her fuck with you. That's a promise."

Natalie's first to break the silence. "I trust you, Signe. I don't like her, but I trust you. I'm willing to give it a go."

Signe thanks Natalie with a nod of her head, but she knows it will probably take more than simple trust for Emma. she adds, "I'll talk with her. Make things clear, before we make things final. Make sure she understands how things stand. Now. about Karl and Tony. Nat, will you talk to them? Both about Russians and the pack?"

Natalie begins, "I'll tell," only to interrupt herself with a snort. "I'll tell Jeremy or Dakota, I'm sure they can pass the word. Karl doesn't need to worry about 'sacrificing' himself to the Russians to keep Emma safe; she's going in guns a'blazing. Metaphorically speaking. As for Tony - you've met him, right? Talked with him? If you have and you're willing, I'll broach him joining the pack."

Signe answers with a shake of her head. "I've seen him only once or twice. Can't say I really know him. But, I trust you. Go ahead. As long as he's willing to take orders from me."

Natalie says, "I'll ask him. Again, I won't make promises. He's... hmn. He's been in town since late December, but it wasn't until I got here that he decided Chiminage. He's convinced he's a screw-up. He definitely doesn't know how to fight, which could be a problem. However, he might have other skills we could use."

"A big fucking problem," Signe announces with a nod. She looks less sure than she did before, but seems at least willing to listen to what he has to say.

Natalie acknowledges the point with a nod. "As I said, I'll talk to him. I still haven't had time to sit down and find out what, exactly, he can do. He's... Ach, never mind."

Signe grins at that. "Ok. I'm going to see if I can find Ashley. Have that talk with her. You talk to him, and I'll meet you back at the mansion tonight. Unless, you'd rather I not? Rather meet at the brownstone?"

Natalie combs fingers through her hair and stands, looking suddenly tired. "Mansion. I've still got some work to do on that damn greenhouse. Or call."

Signe nods. "Alright. Thanks Nat. See you later."

Natalie remembers, and taps her cell phone. "Just give me a ring if no one opens when you buzz. I'll see you later, Signe."
