I lOVE the improvements at our Library! I grew up 4 blocks down the way and used to walk there at least once a week. I could spend hours there. Actually, I am old enough to remember our OLD library on Kansas City Street. The kids had to go directly in the front door and take a sharp right--to the basement! Kids were absolutely NOT allowed with the "grown-ups". I used to sit down there and wonder what all the "big people" books were like.We always talked about "peeking" at the grown up books but in those days kids just didn't break the "rules". Our library cards were written by hand, and when we checked a book out the little librarian lady wrote it down by hand on a ledger-looking thing. Then she "stamped" the due date and reminded us to take good care of the books and not to return them late--or face the 1-cent-a-day fine--per book-- YIKES! If we lost our card it was a 10 cent fine for a new one. The librarian always welcomed us with a smile and knew us all by name. She wore flowered dresses and her hair in a bun..I can still see her-and smell her "Roses, Roses, Roses" Avon perfume...She seemed old at the time but looking back she was probably only 50ish. She passed away about 2-3 years ago. Those were the good old days, in a world that turned at a slower, gentler pace than it does today. Glad I could reminice with you. Keep reading Rachel- it's a great lifetime hobby..

well, since you are in Rapid City and so is Kendra, you can just tell her in person what you're thinking about. But now Becka and I are going to be your big fans, eagerly waiting to hear about what you've been up to!
