Provide deli department managers with data entry, financial analysis, information management, and other administrative support services to ensure the department's food cost, price, recipe, and inventory information is accurate and complete.

Provide graphics services to deli department, including design and production of brochures and case and counter signs.

Maintain and update co-op's retail website and its ancillary databases. Edit and format text and images for website. Input inventory data. Optimize searchability of web pages. Ship orders. Work collaboratively with other website staff.

Operate the following software: database (Food-Trak for kitchen and accounting data; custom, in-house software for Hobart scale data), design (Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop), office productivity (Microsoft Word and Excel), web authoring (osCommerce), and internet (Firefox, Internet Explorer, Thunderbird).

Accomplishments:

  • Provided key administrative support to a new managerial team working to renovate the deli department's operations and meet its financial goals. The positive results of this effort included a first-year 15% increase in deli sales revenue. In successive years, the sales performance of the department has consistently been one of the highest in the co-op. The National Cooperative Grocers Association has recognized these achievements by granting the Wedge deli awards for superior financial performance in 2005 and 2006.
  • Completely revamped the deli's scale data set: Reorganized records according to food group categories and updated product label content. Results: 1. Improved the ability of managers to track product sales and profit margins, 2. Made the operation of deli scales easier and more efficient for packagers and counter servers, 3. Provided customers with more complete and accurate product information, including dietary and allergen advisories.
  • Completed redesign and production of all (500+) deli case signs, implementing several functional and informational innovations that have markedly improved the efficiency of counter service.

American Society for Clinical Pathology, ASCP Press
1996-2004

Coordinated creation and handling of digital images used for ASCP Press print publications, self-assessment and educational products, videos, website content, and interactive digital media. Operated scanners and performed digital formatting, color correction, and touch-up of images. Worked collaboratively with in-house design, illustration, editorial, and marketing and production staff. Managed relationships with outside vendors who provided such services as proofing and printing. Performed imaging and layout work on both Macs and PCs using QuarkXPress and Adobe Photoshop.

Prior positions held: Reference Publications Production Coordinator (2 years), Executive Assistant to Vice President of Educational Publications (1 year).

  • Significantly increased ad revenues, which afforded complete computer hardware and software upgrades for editorial office.
  • Organized retrospective exhibit about F Newsmagazine at SAIC library.
