Global leader in fall protection and rescue for high risk workers partners with VISI to secure IT infrastructure in Minnesota data center.

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (Aug. 29, 2012) – Capital Safety is a company designed to manage risks, normally of high rise and danger prone workforces.  But this time the risk they needed to manage was within their own operations.  They turned to VISI, who operates the only commercially available Uptime Institute Design Certified Tier III data center in Minnesota, to colocate their data. 

“We identified operational risks associated with our IT infrastructure and sought a partner who could help us protect our own data and provide solid colocation facilities in a Tier III facility.  As we expanded internationally we understood that could not let an outage in Red Wing, Minnesota impact our operations in Canada, United Kingdom, France or Australia,” states Bill Knaak, senior manager of Global IT and Operations for Capital Safety.  

Capital Safety’s work customers and workforce of over 1,100 people relay on a seamless IT infrastructure for purchasing, ordering, shipping, manufacturing and global communications.  

And more growth is on the way for Capital Safety with a new colocation project ready to move to VISI any day from Red Wing, Minn. Knaak adds “I have high expectations in terms of a facilities quality, network availability, physical infrastructure, heating, cooling and power availability.  I’ve been in a lot of data centers across the globe. VISI is in the top three. So selecting VISI for colocation was not a difficult decision.”
