Windows XP comes with everything you need to get connected, including a web browser and an Internet email client. No additional software is required to use the Internet, but feel free to use whatever Internet applications you're most comfortable with.
Requirements
- Windows XP Home Edition pre-installed on your computer
- 14,400 bps modem (28,800 bps or faster recommended)
- VISI User Information sheet
- Administrator privileges on the Windows XP machine.
When you have met all these requirements, follow these steps to perform the installation and configuration.
Select "Start" -> "Settings" -> "Control Panel". When the Control Panel opens, click on "Network and Internet Connections". When the Network and Internet Connections window opens, click on "Setup or Change your Internet Connections". When the Internet Properties window opens, select the "Connections" tab, and click on the "Setup..." button to start the Internet Connection Wizard.
When the Welcome screen opens, click "Next" to continue.

Select "Connect to the Internet". Click "Next" to continue.

Select "Set up my connection manually..." Click "Next" to continue.

Select "Connect using a dial-up modem". Click "Next" to continue.

Enter "VISI". Click "Next" to continue.

VISI has two dialup numbers, 612-332-5400 and 612-332-5401. Both numbers handle 56k analog modem and ISDN connections. For VISI National Dialup, place the phone number for the location you will be dialing from.
Enter one of these phone numbers. If you need to dial 9 for an outside extension, enter "9," before the phone number. Click "Next" to continue.

Enter your username as the email address of your VISI account. Make sure your username is in all lowercase. Enter your password in both the "Password" and "Confirm Password" fields. Make sure your password is entered exactly.
Check the "Use this account name and password" and "Make this the default Internet connection" boxes, and make sure the "Turn on Internet Connection Firewall" box is not checked. Click "Next" to continue.

Check the "Add a shortcut to this connection to my desktop" box. Click "Finish".

To connect to the Internet, simply double-click on the "VISI" icon on your desktop.
